Year 1

22nd February 2023 - This week the children in Year 1 had a special visit from Father Simon who taught them all about the importance of the cross and Ash Wednesday.

January 2023 - Year 1 went to church today. We noted all the things we could see including pews, the font, the organ and the altar. We also spoke about how being in a church made us feel. We learned how to acknowledge the presence of God by genuflecting and did this ourselves. Some children also shared a Polish prayer with us too!

Last week, Year 1 went on a trip to King George VI Memorial Park. They enjoyed looking around the woodland areas at the wildlife and even found some of the local landmarks. They walked over 2 and half miles and represented the school beautifully, we were all very proud of them.

Today (13.9.22) Romania Class/Year 1 were lucky enough to have Sunny, the Romanian rescue dog visit as part of their Paws, Claws and Whiskers topic. The children listened about her exciting journey over to the UK and even got to pet her if they wanted to.
