At St Ethelbert’s History is taught through our Cornerstones Curriculum. Year 1’s topic is called Dinosaur Planet. Year 1 have enjoyed being palaeontologists and hunting for dinosaur bones and even found a few bones and fossils!  Year 1 will be learning all about different types of dinosaurs and will explore what the world was like 69 million years ago! They will learn about Mary Anning and all the amazing discoveries that she made in her lifetime. 




Year 2’s topic is called Bright Lights and the Big City. They will be learning all about our capital city and will enjoy lunch with her Majesty the Queen! They will learn all about the Great Fire of London and produce a wonderful musical to help teach their schoolmates about what life was like in London in 1666.



Year 3 will be learning all about the lives of the ancient Greeks in their topic Gods and Mortals. They will be exploring timelines, learning about famous ancient Greeks and the battle of Marathon.  Year 4 will be learning all about the origins of modern medicine in their topic Potions. They will learn how in ancient times magical potions containing herbs were used to cure a range of ailments. Year 5 are starting their exciting Pharaohs topic and have had great fun dressing up as ancient Egyptians! They will be learning about famous ancient Egyptians including Cleopatra and Tutankhamun.
